Year 5 and 6
This term in Years 5 and 6, children will enjoy a creative and dynamic mix of learning. Year 5 will invent their own Flanimal inspired by the hilarious book series, writing detailed information texts and fun guides on how to catch their creature. They'll also design spy gadgets and create persuasive adverts to promote them. In maths, they’ll explore decimals, percentages, statistics, shape, and negative numbers, building confidence through practical problem-solving. Science topics include reproduction in animals and plants, followed by fascinating investigations into reversible and irreversible changes. Year 6 will kick off with group presentations on climate change, then move into an inspiring unit called You’re Awesome, focusing on reflections, passions, and preparing for the exciting leap to secondary school. In maths, they’ll deepen their understanding of algebra, ratio, fractions, decimals, and percentages. Science lessons will explore adaptation, evolution, and fossils, with plenty of hands-on investigation. Together, both year groups will study the geography of Spain—learning about its regions, languages, cities, and local environmental issues, including conservation and endangered species.
